The Field Arts and Events Hall is a newly established performing arts and community center situated along the city’s waterfront. This project celebrates local and regional artists, fosters cultural enrichment, and introduces fresh attractions for tourists, entrepreneurs, and residents alike. Located adjacent to the historic city center, the Hall supports numerous art organizations and enhances the cultural life of the broader community.

Steve Raider Ginsburg, Executive and Artistic Director of the Field Arts and Events Hall, shared his enthusiasm: “I have never seen such a versatile and convenient building in Port Angeles. Visitors can attend business lunches at the conference center on Mondays, enjoy performances during weekdays, and experience jazz brunches on weekends. Since the building opened, it has been busy almost every day. I’ve heard people say, ‘This is my fourth visit to the Field Arts and Events Hall this week.’ As we enter this new chapter, we are excited to welcome everyone to experience this space and contribute to the post-pandemic urban revitalization. We are honored to support the cultural vitality of the Pacific Northwest.”

Julie Adams, partner at LMN Architects, added: “It has been a privilege to collaborate with the Field Arts and Events Hall team on a project that energizes the Angelis Harbor waterfront. This facility aims to bring together the commercial, cultural, and creative communities under one roof, becoming a new regional destination. Watching audiences interact in the lobby before and after performances, attending live shows in the hall, or participating in events in the conference space while enjoying stunning ocean and mountain views—these experiences are the result of the dedicated Field Hall staff’s careful planning. We hope both the Angelis Port community and visitors will enjoy this building for many seasons to come.”

The building features a 500-seat multifunctional performance hall capable of hosting orchestral concerts, dance, theater, amplified music events, and festivals. This intimate yet highly adaptable theater is designed to showcase a wide range of artistic performances by local and regional groups.

The second-floor conference center offers panoramic views of the Juan de Fuca Strait, making it a unique venue for events in Port Angeles and the North Peninsula. It accommodates 250 banquet seats and includes dressing rooms, backstage facilities, dining kitchens, and executive suites to support the building’s operations. Additionally, an art museum, conference center, and café provide extra performance spaces and invite visitors to engage in year-round activities.

The design honors the history and ecosystem of Port Angeles, offering visitors a chance to connect with the town’s culture and geography. The building’s form embraces the breathtaking natural surroundings. Visitors enter from the city entrance at street level and ascend a distinctive staircase, greeted by sweeping views of the Olympic Mountains and the Juan de Fuca Strait.

The city’s timber industry heritage is reflected throughout the building with wood accents and natural materials. A wooden curtain wall made from regional timber components wraps the multi-story lobby and conference spaces, providing a 270-degree panoramic view. The wooden ceiling in the lobby, combined with integrated lighting, mimics sunlight reflecting on nearby water, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere in the public areas.

Cameron Irwin, lead architect at LMN Architects, noted: “The Field Arts and Events Hall is located at the foot of the Olympic Mountains along the Juan de Fuca Strait coastline. This Art Center is the inaugural element of a planned arts, culture, and science campus. Situated at the western edge of Port Angeles’ historic city center, the facility embodies the community’s dedication to revitalizing the waterfront and supporting the city’s artists and sponsors.

The building offers pedestrian access from the main street to the waterfront. Its lobby guides visitors up to the second floor, which rises above the street and surrounding buildings, providing panoramic views stretching from large ships at the working waterfront to the Olympic Mountains. The wooden curtain wall introduces the warmth and texture of the surrounding landscape inside, serving as a modern tribute to the region’s timber industry heritage.

With the completion of the Field Arts and Events Hall, it has quickly become a vital part of the social infrastructure for the city, the region, and the state of Washington.”
