The owner and his family have chosen this seaside leisure residence next to the Incheon Bridge as their final home, embracing a peaceful lifestyle after years of urban nomadism. They long to gaze out at the sea horizon, dreaming of an unpredictable and beautiful future.

The residence’s design addresses the challenges posed by a twisted viewing axis along the plot, where the sea view would otherwise feel distant. To maximize sea views while avoiding obstruction from nearby buildings, each room is angled towards the ocean. This creates vibrant, dynamic forms throughout the home and ensures breathtaking views from every corner.

Outdoor terraces extend from each room, offering panoramic views of the Incheon Sea. These terraces connect through a corridor that doubles as an observation deck overlooking the water and as a spatial element that defines an inward-facing courtyard.

The visual connection between land and sea is enhanced by incorporating water features such as streams, ponds, and waterfalls into the architecture. These elements create a seamless link between the ocean and the land through striking visual landscapes.
In modern Korean society, where family gatherings are infrequent, creating spaces that foster relationships is vital. This home features a theater-style communal living area with panoramic sea views. The flow of rooms is designed around this vertical living space, encouraging family members to interact and support one another.

The design incorporates concave curves inspired by traditional Korean architecture, blending Korean cultural elements with the dynamic imagery of sails on the sea. This fusion creates a unique sense of place, tying together cultural heritage and the ocean’s spirit.
On this leisurely “sailing ship” of life, the family embarks on an unpredictable journey toward a future filled with dreams, always watching the endless horizon of the sea.
