The Qianxin Town Exhibition Hall is situated within the Qianxin Town Scenic Area in Longnan County, Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province. Nestled on the northeast foothills of Qianshan Mountain—a national nature reserve—this site sits at an average elevation of 600 meters.
Shaped like a half-moon and positioned on a mountainside, the hall is visible from the winding mountain road as you approach. The northern view opens up to an uninterrupted panorama of mountains and peaks. To the south, the site is backed by the mountain and separated by a winding path that runs through the terrain. The land rises 8 meters from east to west, creating a notable elevation difference that defines the site’s physical character.

The surrounding area boasts over 100,000 acres of natural forests. Visitors to the site are immediately captivated by the endless greenery, where time seems to pause and one becomes fully immersed in the serene landscape.
Having visited Qianxin Town multiple times during this project, I have been deeply moved by its breathtaking natural beauty. From the outset, our design goal has been to create a landscape-style building that seamlessly integrates with its natural surroundings, preserving the original sense of time and space.
— Zhang Guowei, John Zhang (Lead Architect of Qianxin Town Exhibition Hall Project, GWP Managing Partner)
Currently, the site serves as a temporary parking lot crucial for managing visitor parking in the scenic area. Given the surrounding mountains and forests, expanding this parking area is not feasible. Therefore, integrating the exhibition hall while maintaining the existing parking function is essential.

The GWP team envisioned suspending the exhibition hall above the parking lot, enabling pedestrian flow from different elevations on either side to converge at the site’s center. The circulation path, shaped like a “Tai Chi” symbol, follows the mountain terrain, fully integrating with the landscape.
This design allows visitors to naturally transition across the 8-meter height difference without noticing the elevation changes. By vertically separating the exhibition hall from the parking area, the two functions operate independently yet harmoniously coexist.

The building nestles against the mountain, following the natural terrain. Its main structure takes the form of a free-flowing ellipse, resembling a seed scattered in the mountains, gradually blending with the land and patiently awaiting nature’s elements—sunshine, wind, and rain—with hope.
Two circular ramps embrace the building like hands in a gesture of reverence, echoing the town’s name, “Piety.” This posture symbolizes a harmonious integration between architecture and the natural world.

To minimize disturbance to the fragile environment, the GWP team avoided extensive excavation or backfilling. Instead, they introduced three levels of curved corridors along the site’s natural edges, creating a 24-hour public viewing platform that offers varying perspectives of the mountains at different heights.

The building is organized into three stacked zones from top to bottom: the main exhibition hall, office spaces, and parking area. Each level connects horizontally to the adjacent road at the same elevation, allowing seamless entry and exit. This layout enables each function to operate efficiently and independently without interference.

The main exhibition hall features a panoramic 360° floor-to-ceiling glass facade. With a maximum span of 24 meters, the open and transparent space blurs the boundary between architecture and nature, immersing visitors in the surrounding mountains and forests.
At night, when illuminated, this oval glass structure transforms into a glowing beacon in the mountains, guiding visitors along their path.

“Qianxin Town is a national AAAA-level tourist destination, spanning nearly 100,000 acres. We have long hoped for an exhibition space to showcase the town’s planning and future development. The GWP team’s design not only meets the display and parking needs but also embodies the spirit of ‘piety’ in its concept, blending harmoniously with the natural environment. It promises to be an iconic architectural landmark.”
— Xie Xiaoming (Chairman of Qianxin Town Ecological Agriculture Co., Ltd.)
Time stands still, and space intertwines. Here, one devoutly senses the depth of time; here, one experiences the richness of varied spatial layers.
