Outlook for 2021
Making significant contributions and aiming for even greater achievements.
Focusing on the trillion-dollar trend of new infrastructure, the exhibition promotes the new development pattern of dual circulation, aligns with the 14th Five-Year Plan, and seizes key industry development opportunities.
Marking its 10th anniversary, Orange Expo iMetro holds groundbreaking significance by honoring past achievements and embracing the future. Building upon its successful history, it partners with the industry to embark on an exciting new decade. Orange Exhibition iMetro will continue collaborating closely with government bodies and major rail transit owners, optimizing its unique administrative and market synergy, and driving the exhibition’s high-quality development.
Centered on China’s strategic goal to build a “strong transportation country,” the exhibition integrates key themes such as new infrastructure, dual circulation, and the 14th Five-Year Plan. Leveraging policy advantages, it aims to create an efficient and integrated industrial complex that includes equipment displays, technology exchange, trade matchmaking, cross-border cooperation, and new product releases.
The event’s theme, “Multi-Network Integration, Cross-Domain Cooperation, and Integration of Data and Intelligence,” focuses on both supply and demand sides of the industry. It highlights accelerating domestic circulation of rail transit driven by new infrastructure and the 14th Five-Year Plan, alongside promoting international circulation through RCEP—the world’s largest free trade zone led by China. The exhibition addresses sustainable development needs of exhibitors and explores high-quality development demands in construction, operation, and maintenance.
Orange Expo iMetro will take place from September 13-15, 2021, at the China International Import and Export Fair in Pazhou, Guangzhou. Supported by favorable market conditions and enthusiastic industry participation, the exhibition expects over 20,000 square meters of space and 10 themed areas.
More than 200 renowned companies and brands from the global rail transit sector will showcase cutting-edge technologies, equipment, and comprehensive solutions spanning the entire industry, value, supply, and ecological chains—including railways, subways, trams, light rail, and maglev systems.
On this unparalleled platform, innovative rail transit models and numerous cross-border players will emerge. Leading exhibitors such as CRRC, Huawei, China Railway, Hairek, Baiyun Electric, Bombardier, and government groups from Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chongqing, and Changchun will demonstrate advanced technologies. Over 25,000 managers and procurement decision-makers from government departments, rail transit construction and maintenance, vehicle manufacturers, engineering firms, research institutes, and consulting units will engage, collaborate, and forge the industry’s future.
Besides showcasing diverse brands and cutting-edge exhibits, Orange Exhibition iMetro will collaborate with subway and railway owners to host more than 20 professional summits and technical seminars. Review of 2020
Outstanding achievements in overcoming the pandemic and making history. Numerous central enterprises and local government delegations took the lead in championing post-pandemic industry recovery, earning high praise from experts and merchants alike.
As the first Chinese company to propose the “Smart Rail” initiative in 2013, Orange Exhibition iMetro has consistently led with digitalization, IoT, and intelligence in its exhibition content. The event strives for excellent business outcomes on both supply and demand sides, earning unanimous industry acclaim for its advanced exhibition and visitor experience.
Amid the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Orange Exhibition iMetro courageously assumed responsibility, overcoming difficulties to spearhead industry recovery. It issued a rallying call for the rail transit industry’s rapid rebound and accelerated the layout of new infrastructure.
With active support from local governments and property owners nationwide, the successful 2020 exhibition revitalized the national rail transit market, stimulating market vitality and boosting industry confidence. As a result, Orange Exhibition iMetro became the only major industry exhibition in China not postponed or cancelled during the pandemic, setting a historic precedent.
The previous exhibition, themed “Smart Rail, Empowering Cities, 5G+AIoT Sensing the Future,” took place from August 6-8, 2020, at the Guangzhou China Import and Export Fair Exhibition Hall. Highlighting technological innovation and cross-border integration, it featured over 100 leading enterprises such as China Railway Materials Group, China XD Group, Alibaba Cloud, Baiyun Electric, Tieke Intelligent Control, Bowei Terahertz, and Kuaiyi Elevator.
The exhibition’s diverse and captivating content covered the entire industry chain—from operation and maintenance to planning, construction, and vehicle manufacturing. It promoted 5G+AIoT empowerment, precise supply-demand matching, intelligent locomotive manufacturing, and embraced post-pandemic development trends, new infrastructure, and “Rail+” concepts.
Orange Exhibition iMetro has become the only industry B2B platform in China recognized by many local governments as a key investment attraction and group promotion platform for local rail transit development. In 2020, over 40 companies from regions such as Guangzhou Rail Transit Equipment Industrial Park, Tianjin Binhai New Area, and Luoyang participated, hosting multiple investment promotion activities.
As the first post-pandemic industry exhibition in China, the event reflected a strong rebound in market confidence, attracting 21,658 professional visitors. On opening day, officials including Hu Hong (Standing Committee Member and Deputy Mayor of Guangzhou), Wu Yuguang (Deputy Director of Guangdong Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology), Gao Yuyue (Deputy Secretary-General of Guangzhou Municipal Government), and Liao Jiasheng (President of China Railway Materials Co., Ltd.) led delegations from government departments, rail transit owners, embassies, and consulates to visit and engage in in-depth discussions on empowering rail transit with new-generation information technologies and regional network planning.
