What to Do If You Still Can’t Select Reference Lines in Revit Components
As shown in the image below, strong horizontal and vertical reference lines have been added to a four-way fitting family. I want to align these lines with the pipeline, but I still can’t select them. What should I do?
First, enter the family editing environment and check the Visibility Graphics Settings for the model lines used as references. As illustrated below, I set the lines to display in coarse and medium detail levels and enabled visibility in fine mode before loading the family into the project. However, the reference lines still can’t be selected.
Interestingly, when switching the views in the project from fine detail to coarse or medium detail mode, the reference lines become selectable. This suggests that the software may restrict model lines to be selectable only in certain detail levels, such as coarse or medium.
Although the exact factors affecting the selection of reference lines require further verification, a practical workaround is to change the view’s detail level to coarse or medium when you encounter this issue. Doing so will allow you to select the reference lines you defined.
