How to Customize the Color of Steel Bars in Revit
When modeling column and beam reinforcement in Revit, it’s often necessary to differentiate reinforcement types and functions by assigning distinct colors based on their positions and roles. But how do you add different colors to reinforcement? Let me guide you through the process.
1. First, create your beam, column, and wall models and arrange their reinforcement. Once finished, adjust the steel bars’ visibility settings to make them visible in 3D, as shown below.
2. After changing the visibility, your steel bars will display as in the image.
3. Select the steel bars you want to recolor, right-click to open the context menu, and choose Replace Graphics in View > By Element, as illustrated.
4. In the Graphics Override dialog box, modify the Surface Fill Pattern, Color, and Fill Pattern options as demonstrated in the figure below.
5. Once the changes are applied, you will see that the steel bars have changed to the desired color, as shown.
6. Repeat this process for any other steel bars you want to recolor, enabling clear visual differentiation, as depicted in the image.
Note: This color customization method works well in Realistic and Ray Tracing visual styles. However, manually adding colors this way is not recommended for small components or large-scale models due to practicality concerns.
