Color Interval Display Settings in Revit
In Revit, creating patterns with color intervals can be essential for various design purposes. Here, we demonstrate three practical methods to achieve this using Revit 2016.
Method 1: Using the Split Face Command to Create Color Intervals
1. Draw any graphic element, select it, and use the Split Face command to divide the surface into strips. Ensure you do not draw lines along the edges, as shown in the illustration.
2. Apply the Coloring command to add stripes of color onto the surface, as demonstrated in the image.
Method 2: Using Material Appearance Gradient Colors
1. Create a regular model and assign materials to it.
2. In the material’s Appearance tab, under the Generic section, replace the texture image with a Gradient and adjust the color nodes in the texture editor to achieve the desired effect.
Method 3: Creating Color-Spaced Stripes with Line Styles
1. Navigate to the Manage tab, then under Other Settings, select the Line Patterns command. Create a new dashed line style and a new solid line style.
2. Still under Other Settings, adjust the line widths as needed. Then, go to Line Styles and create new subcategories by modifying the existing solid and dashed line styles. Adjust their widths, patterns, and colors accordingly.
3. With these settings, you can now draw colored stripes with the desired spacing.
Why This Matters
Many real-world objects feature spaced stripe patterns—examples include zebra crossings and scaffolding. Learning how to set up such stripe patterns is highly valuable for accurate and visually effective modeling in Revit.
