How to Solve the Issue of Tagging Newly Added Parameters in Revit
In many projects, custom parameters are often added to specific family categories. When these parameters are shared parameters, you can create a custom tag family to label components within that category.
1. Start by creating a new metric standard tag family. If you already have a tag family template for the desired category, simply select the appropriate template, as shown below.
2. Once opened, change the family category to the target category. For example, if the shared parameter is added to wires, select the Wire Marking category, as illustrated.
3. After confirming the category, delete the default note text in the template, as shown in the example.
4. Next, click Create in the Tags tab, then select the Tag command, as demonstrated.
5. Click in the desired location to place the tag. A pop-up Edit Tags dialog box will appear, as shown below.
6. Notice that the parameters listed on the left are shared parameters that have not yet been customized. To add your shared parameters, click the Add Parameters button in the lower-left corner, and select the shared parameters you added to the project, as displayed.
7. After selecting the parameter, click Add parameters to label to include it in the tag. Once confirmed, your custom tag is ready, as shown.
8. Save the tag family and load it into your project. You can now use it to tag components in the corresponding category.
Summary: When labeling components, adding new information often requires creating relevant parameters manually. If you use regular project parameters, you won’t have suitable tags available. Instead, use shared parameters, which can be added to components and used to create corresponding tag families. This approach allows tags to display the desired information effectively.
