Can I Make Changes if the Duct System Classification in Revit Is Incorrect? After drawing the duct, you may realize that the system classification assigned is incorrect. Is it possible to make changes at this point? The answer is yes, but first, it’s important to understand a few key concepts: system classification, system type, and system name.
System classification is a default parameter within the software and cannot be created or modified manually. Revit provides three preset system classifications for air ducts: supply air, return air, and exhaust air.
The system type is derived from the system classification. For example, if you copy a type based on the supply air classification, then its system classification is supply air. If you discover that the duct system classification is incorrect and want to change it to return air, you need to create a new type based on the return air classification. Then, in the instance properties panel, select this newly created system type. Doing so will automatically update the system classification to return air.
