Previously, I have extensively discussed the introduction of BIM software. Recently, some friends have asked me to revisit this topic, especially focusing on Bentley software. Today, I will cover the main components of Bentley software, its advantages, and its application areas.
AECOsim Building Designer is divided into three 3D design modules: architecture, structure, and building systems including mechanical (HVAC), plumbing, and electrical. It supports specialized tasks such as model creation, drawing output, statistical reporting, clash detection, and data exchange. Its primary application lies in civil engineering.
ContextCapture is mainly used for rapid, real-time 3D modeling from ordinary photographs. Its main focus is on realistic modeling.
PowerCivil is a comprehensive platform for designing and modeling transportation routes. Its primary application is in route design and modeling.
ProStructures is a 3D steel and concrete structural detailing software. It enables modeling of complex structures, automatic connection of steel nodes and concrete reinforcement, and generates detailed drawings and data tables. It also allows users to compare model and document revisions over time. The software supports data sharing with other engineering design tools, including structural analysis and factory design software. Its main application is steel structure reinforcement.
Bentley LumenRT specializes in realistic 3D modeling and rendering, with a primary focus on visual effects and presentation.
Bentley Raceway and Cable Management facilitates interactive modeling of cable trays, conduits, and supports within building environments. It provides detailed information on materials, dimensions, lengths, component types, and service levels derived from the BIM model. The cable tray direction is controlled via smart lines, enabling automatic placement of straight and curved sections. It supports clash detection when integrated with other BIM models and can quickly generate 2D bridge sectional drawings, cable schedules, and material lists. Its main application is cable tray management.
Bentley OpenPlant Modeler addresses modeling needs for equipment pipelines in municipal engineering projects. It includes piping, equipment, supports, hangers, instruments, HVAC, and associated functions. This software is primarily used for pipeline modeling.
ProjectWise CE is an engineering data management and collaboration platform. It centralizes the management of work content, workflows, standards, environments, and engineering standard libraries. It employs a hierarchical license management system to automate workflow control, enhancing collaborative design processes.
