Slow or Lagging Response When Selecting or Creating Pipes in Revit
Issue:
Users have reported experiencing slow or lagging responses when selecting or creating pipes in Revit. During these instances, the program may freeze temporarily, causing the cursor to spin for several seconds.
Status:
This issue has been addressed and resolved in the following product update:
Revit 2020.2
To install updates, open the Autodesk Desktop Application and click on My Updates. To install a new version of Autodesk software, log in to the Autodesk Desktop Application and select My Products. Recommended Solution:
To prevent this issue, please follow these steps:
- Rename the problematic level to indicate it is obsolete (for example, rename “Level 1” to specify it is no longer in use).
- Create a new level with an appropriate name, ensuring its elevation matches that of the old level.
- Cut all pipes from the old level up to the clamp plate.
- Paste the pipes aligned to the newly created level and select this new level. Note: If pasting does not work, select the pipes instead of cutting them and change their reference elevation to the new level.
- Delete the original level. Warning: Deleting a level will remove any associated views created at that level, so proceed with caution. Alternatively, you can move the old level to your workspace and make it invisible to prevent accidental use.
- Only insert the necessary linked files required for processing the model to improve performance.
- In System Type Attributes, change the calculation method to Performance.
