Resolving Overlapping and Oversized Text Issues When Printing from Revit

Printing Issues in Revit: Overlapping or Enlarged Text

Question:

When printing PDFs or physical copies directly from Revit, the output sometimes shows overlapping or excessively large text. This issue can impact the clarity of detailed floor plans and title blocks.

Environment:

Using a laptop with a fixed docking station running Windows 10.
The display adapter is currently active.

Cause:

This problem occurs when the display adapter is in use or when the laptop is docked or undocked from a fixed station with multiple monitors. Windows detects the other monitors connected to the docking station and adjusts the display settings accordingly. As a result, the display settings may show a red error message, and some applications may not respond correctly to scaling changes until they are restarted.

Solutions:

To prevent this issue, try one of the following:

  • Log out of your Windows account and log back in after docking the laptop.
  • Restart your computer while it is docked.
  • Use a direct DisplayPort cable or a monitor-to-DVI cable.
