How to Calculate Painted Area in Revit
When using BIM software like Revit to create detailed interior decoration models, calculating the painted area is often necessary. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to calculate the painted area in Revit.
1. Suppose you need to apply a 300mm high waterproof coating to a room. The painting height is the room’s building elevation plus 300mm. Begin by using the Room tool to mark the room, then select the room tag to find the perimeter data, as shown in the illustration.
2. In the Room and Area tab, adjust the calculation method to measure at the wall core layer, as demonstrated in the figure.
3. Open the Schedule tab, add the required fields, click on “Calculate Values,” set the field names, and enter the necessary formulas, as shown in the image.
4. Finally, generate the detailed schedule and extract the data as needed, as depicted in the figure.
Why Calculate Painted Area?
Calculating the painted area helps provide an initial estimate of material consumption during the decoration phase. This information serves as a reference for future cost assessment and supports the economic planning of engineering projects.
