How to Fix Missing Render Material Images in Revit Files

How to Fix Missing Render Material Images in Revit Files

When receiving Revit files or relocating the material library to a different location, the rendered appearance may vary depending on the system. All custom-added images will be lost in the process.

Reason:

The image files used for Rendering Appearance are part of the Material Library, but they are not embedded within the Revit file itself.

Even when using eTransmit, the following image files are not included, as certain file types are excluded during model transfer.

Solution:

To preserve the original appearance, follow the workflow below:

  • Collect all custom images in a shared network folder accessible to everyone.
  • In Revit, go to Options > Rendering and add the path of this folder to the rendering appearance paths field.
