System Classification in Revit Piping Systems Explained
When working with piping systems in Revit, system types are defined to organize and manage different piping circuits. For example, in a circulating water supply system, three system types—A, B, and C—may be established. Correspondingly, the piping system also includes types A, B, and C. The goal is to assign pipe types A, B, and C to their matching system types respectively.
However, when specifying pipe types, all options appear selectable, but the system ultimately defaults to the last selected system type. This raises the question: Can a single system type, such as the circulating water supply, be assigned to only one pipe in Revit?
Solution:
Currently, within the Edit Type window, it is not possible to directly specify the pipe system type.
This design primarily helps users assign systems (like water supply, return water, cold water, etc.) based on project requirements, even when using the same pipe material (such as PVC).
Recommended Practice: When drawing pipelines, make sure to carefully set the System Type property in the pipeline properties window. This approach minimizes the need for repeated checks and modifications later.
