Revit: Retrieving and Publishing Coordinates
When working in a building model file, you typically want to obtain coordinates from a linked model, such as a site. Conversely, if you are working within a site model, you will need to publish coordinates from the site model to the linked building model.
In both cases, the process of obtaining or publishing coordinates occurs within the main model.
Obtaining Coordinates
When you obtain coordinates from a linked model or file, the linked model’s coordinates establish a shared coordinate system for the host model.
Publishing Coordinates
When publishing shared coordinates from the main model to a linked model, the linked model updates its position based on the new coordinates.
Using Link Instance Properties to Obtain or Publish Coordinates
Shared coordinates enable you to position linked models accurately within the main model. You can use the properties of linked models to either obtain (pull) coordinates from them or publish (push) coordinates to them as needed.
Obtaining Shared Coordinates in Revit Cloud Worksharing
When working with Revit Cloud Worksharing, disable the “Publish” option and use the “Get” command to share coordinates between cloud-based files. This workflow is demonstrated in an example scenario featuring a single project with three independent sites, each defined within its own separate model.
