Incorrect Display of Steel Bar Symbols in CAD Drawings
Sometimes, when opening a steel reinforcement drawing, the page is expected to show text or other data annotations. However, instead of proper text, you may see question marks or no display at all. What causes this issue?
The problem often arises because the font used for the steel grade symbol differs from other fonts. Simply adding common font libraries like HZTXT usually does not resolve the issue, and the question marks remain. To fix this, follow these steps:
- Click on the steel bar symbol to check its text style, which is usually set to “Standard” or another style.
- Type the command
stto open the Text Style window. - Select the relevant style name and change the SHX font to
tssdeng2.shxortssdeng.shx. Also, update the big font totssdchn.shx. - Click “Apply” and then close the window.
After making this adjustment, you can use the Feature Matching command to quickly update other instances with the same issue, completing the correction of the steel bar symbols.
Why This Matters: Understanding CAD drawings is essential, especially since these files are indispensable in construction and engineering. Due to standardization or software quirks during the design process, font display problems are common. When text does not display correctly in CAD drawings, it is important to identify the root cause and modify the font settings accordingly to ensure proper display.
