Our website previously featured a technical article titled “The Problem of Incorrect Dimensions After Importing CAD Drawings from Revit”. Here, the editor shares an alternative method: How to Adjust the Scale Factor of CAD Drawings in Revit.
To start, create a new family file and import your CAD drawings as shown below. Be sure to set parameters such as import units and positioning accordingly.
After importing, use alignment annotations to verify whether the CAD drawing scale is accurate.
We discovered that a line originally intended to be 60 mm in length was annotated as only 12 mm, indicating an incorrect scale in the CAD drawing.
How can we correct this?
Step 1: Select the CAD drawing. Its properties will appear in the property bar.
Step 2: Click Edit Type in the property bar to open the Type Properties dialog box.
Step 3: In the Scale Factor field, replace the default value 1.000000 with =60/12 so the software calculates the correct scale automatically.
Finally, click OK to close the dialog box.
After these adjustments, re-annotate the CAD drawing. As shown below, the length of the line now matches the annotation value correctly.
