How to Split Surfaces or Paths Using Named References in Revit Volumes

In conceptual design, named references can be used to divide the geometry of a main panel or an adaptive component effectively.

First, select a segmentation path or surface.

To split a path, go to the Modify tab and select Split Path. Then, under the Partition and Intersection Point panel, choose the Intersection Point from the drop-down list.

For splitting a surface, navigate to the Modify tab and select Shape. In the UV Grid and Intersection Points panel, pick the Intersection Point from the drop-down list.

Within the Reference for Intersection Naming dialog box, select the reference that intersects with the segmentation path.

Note that any lines drawn for references will not appear in this list if they are unnamed elements.
