Project Introduction:
The Wuhan Wanda Hanxiu Theater is a complex facility that integrates multiple systems and disciplines. The auditorium incorporates various specialties such as steel structure engineering, civil engineering, curtain wall engineering, mechanical and electrical systems, fine decoration, stunt tracks, mechanical arms, dry lift platforms, water lift stages, rotating seats, lift seats, LED screens, as well as effects including gas, water, fire, fog, lighting, and sound. Additionally, it features multi-platform flooring and curtains.

Construction Unit: Dalian Wanda Group
Building Area: 86,000 m²
Land Area: 11,500 m²
Design Unit: Mark Fisher & The Pearl River Institute

Engineering Challenges:
- Highly complex and specialized systems
- Coordination difficulties and heavy workload
- Seamless integration of special equipment with general contracting tasks
- Strict and tight construction schedule
Management Planning:

Complex Pipeline Integration:

The installation height for pipelines within the pool is restricted to a maximum of 650mm.
The installation of water treatment pipelines at ground level initially required numerous types of supports. By switching to longitudinal support installation, space utilization improved significantly, and support specifications became easier to manage.

New special effects pipelines were introduced. After arranging the large pipelines, the remaining bridge pipelines were efficiently allocated to avoid any collisions.

Following the delivery of the drag chain and the completion of pipeline and bridge pipeline layouts, the drag chain’s position was finalized through careful adjustments and fine-tuning.

Over 200 explosion discs were installed. The pipelines, bridge frames, and drag chains within the water tank occupy substantial space. Using BIM technology, all custom-designed manufacturer pipeline routes were adjusted to ensure precise positioning and minimize construction changes.

- Integration of time and space in BIM applications
- Three-dimensional progress planning
- Ability to select any time slice for process analysis and spatial inspection
Summary:
In this project, BIM technology was employed to enhance management planning, reduce implementation risks, and successfully realize the “most challenging building in history”—the Wuhan Wanda Hanxiu Theater—in its finest form.
