Understanding the “Scope of Impact” Feature in Revit
When you click on a grid line in Revit, the tab will display “Scope of Impact.” What does this do? Clicking on a grid with your mouse will open the influence range. This feature is used to copy the range and visibility of the baseline element to a parallel view.
Let’s test this with multiple views. On the site plan, the left side of the G-axis is hidden, while in other views, the left side of the G-axis remains visible (as shown in the image below).
By using the “Scope of Impact” tool, you can synchronize the hidden state of the G-axis grid from the site plan to other corresponding views, making that portion hidden there as well (see the figure below).
Besides clicking on the grid to activate the influence range, elevations within interior views can also affect this range. However, there are some limitations: the south elevation can only synchronize with the north elevation, and the west elevation only with the east elevation.
