Why Do View Names in Revit Project Browser Show Question Marks?
Sometimes, when creating new views in Revit, you may notice that the view name in the Project Browser appears as a question mark. In such cases, it’s important to check whether the Sub-discipline option for that view is left blank, as illustrated below.
This issue often arises when the model contains multiple disciplines or uses new sub-discipline categories that Revit cannot automatically assign to the view. As a result, the view name displays a question mark. To resolve this, you can select the appropriate sub-discipline from the dropdown menu or simply click on the Sub-discipline input box and enter a new sub-discipline name.
Keep in mind that once the Sub-discipline is updated, the view will automatically move to the corresponding sub-discipline folder within the Project Browser. For better project organization, it’s recommended to assign the correct sub-discipline to each view or adjust the Project Browser settings to remove the sub-discipline hierarchy if it’s not needed.
