BIM Architecture: Embracing Southern Jiangxi’s Cultural Heritage to Revive the Charm of the Song and Qing Dynasties at Yongjing Bay, Ganzhou

▲ Project Video

The inspiration behind Yongjing Bay in Ganzhou stems from the traditional walled houses found in southern Jiangxi. Scattered throughout ancient villages in this region, these structures are sometimes elegant, sometimes grand—like a millennium-old figure who has weathered countless changes yet remains warm and inviting. Their deep historical roots and distinctive cultural flavor have fascinated scholars and poets through the ages.

The design simplifies the facade by removing unnecessary decorative elements, focusing instead on the purity of form and the intrinsic texture and appeal of the materials themselves.

The project is situated in the Zhangjiang New District of Ganzhou City, offering views of Zhangjiang to the west and Central Park to the southeast. The site benefits from abundant natural landscapes and an excellent environment.

At the entrance, wood-grain aluminum panels complement warm yellow lighting at night, blending traditional cultural elements of Ganzhou with a modern architectural language. The gently undulating roof harmonizes rhythmically under the blue sky, reflecting the designer’s admiration for the region’s continuous mountain ranges.

The design embraces subtlety and humility, never fully revealing itself. Through a blend of natural materials—wood grain stone, imitation copper grilles, and night snow stone—it creates an elegant and refined space that evokes everyday life scenes. The transparent grilles lend a sense of lightness and modernity, while the mottled shadows cast upon them enhance spatial interaction (BIM design), adding a leisurely and sophisticated ambiance, ultimately producing a tranquil and poetic atmosphere.
