Located in Changsha, Hunan Province, this project is situated in the Qingzhu Lake area of Kaifu North. The site stretches irregularly along the foothills of Sun Mountain, surrounded by natural landscapes. It neighbors Xiangjun Changde Experimental School and Sun Mountain Forest Park, benefiting from abundant ecological resources.

The design concept embraces mountains as the form and water as the essence, reflecting the spirit of traditional Chinese architecture. The exhibition center features thoughtfully designed north and south courtyards: the northern courtyard showcases an open landscape waterfall, while the southern courtyard integrates harmoniously with nature, creating a serene space where heaven and earth enter the courtyard.

The overall master plan prioritizes site responsiveness, drawing inspiration from traditional Chinese garden layouts. Through the architectural technique known as “gardening,” it creates rich spatial relationships and forms, balancing movement and stillness to craft a unique and captivating environment.

Considering current land conditions and ownership, the layout organizes itself around a structure of “one axis and two gardens.” The “one axis” is a continuous commercial corridor running east to west, while the “two gardens” consist of open courtyards facing distinct northern and southern landscapes, strategically arranged through multiple sightline analyses.

The building’s architectural concept is a “three-dimensional landscape,” featuring layered mountains and reflective waters. Its continuous sloping roof forms an extended corridor, offering a tranquil space to sit, enjoy tea, and appreciate the view. This corridor also serves as a transitional space, seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor environments.

The commercial exterior employs modern materials including glass, glass curtain walls, deep champagne-gold aluminum panels, and stone. The office glass curtain wall system varies transparency and reflectivity to articulate different levels and volumes, creating a dynamic visual interplay between glass and aluminum elements.
