The flexible forms and spaces characteristic of mountain architecture often embody the essence of regionalism. This has long been a challenge for architects, yet the ultimate focus remains on life itself. The Jindi · Hushanyue project aims to create a truly peaceful environment—a place where people can momentarily escape the city’s hustle and the pressures of work, reconnecting with the core of living.

The architect conducted a comprehensive site planning that took into account topography, elevation, foundations, and building design. Following a strategy of dividing the site into smaller sections, efforts were made to minimize soil excavation and fill. The natural shape of the mountain was preserved, adapting to the terrain through the creation of small terraces. The design unfolds layer by layer along the natural contours, incorporating spatial permeability, pathway layout, and evolving emotional nodes, resulting in a rich and immersive mountain community experience.

Positioned next to the lake, the community center appears to contrast with the grand spatial atmosphere envisioned in the overall design. However, this juxtaposition highlights a dialogue between architecture and the natural environment through a dual vocabulary, ultimately addressing the challenge of achieving simplicity through subtraction.

The minimalist architecture sits along the path connecting the upper and lower parks, harmoniously blending with the mountain. It maintains a strong dialogue with its surroundings while embodying the architect’s vision of discreet luxury and humble respect for nature.

In terms of architectural style, the design avoids restrictive or stereotypical symbols. Instead, it emphasizes clear construction logic and emotional expression through design techniques. Suspended on the lakeside, the structure’s framing elements engage in a harmonious dialogue with the landscape. The refined aluminum panels and glass materials create a striking contrast with the natural scenery, while the sculptural form imparts a sense of power and surrealism to the site.

A thousand feet is potential; a hundred feet is form. Creating a modern scale requires not only exceptional craftsmanship but also a harmonious “body and path.” Adjacent to the ‘Dao’—constructed with poetic intent—the design focuses on crafting every spatial node and refining every detail to embody warmth and resonate deeply with the human spirit.

The indoor space features blurred boundaries, creating a serene atmosphere. Nestled within a natural courtyard, it welcomes abundant natural light and frames tranquil views. Every material’s authenticity is respected, and spatial hierarchy is carefully considered—offering a place to sense the environment and listen closely to one’s inner voice.
