The 17th International Rail Transit Exhibition 2022: A Must-Attend Industry Event Launching This November

The 14th Five-Year Plan marks a critical phase for China’s journey toward building a comprehensive socialist modernized nation. It is also a pivotal period for accelerating the development of internationally influential metropolitan areas. Recently, the National Development and Reform Commission has issued and approved several key plans, including the Implementation Plan for Urban Rail Transit Planning and Construction during the 14th Five-Year Plan, the Intercity Railway Construction Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the 14th Five-Year Plan for the Development of the Yangtze River Midstream Urban Agglomeration, and the Comprehensive Transportation Development Plan for the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle. Industry associations have also released the Outline for the Development of Smart Urban Rail Transit in China’s Urban Rail Transit. These initiatives focus on urban agglomerations and cover suburban (regional) railways, urban rail transit, and intercity transportation.

In June this year, the Nanjing Metropolitan Area Construction Office was officially established as part of the Ten Cities initiative in Jiangsu and Anhui. This milestone highlights the Yangtze River Delta region’s sustained efforts to coordinate the development of mainline railways, intercity railways, suburban railways, and urban rail transit, aiming to create a seamless, convenient commuting rail system.

The 17th International Rail Transit Exhibition 2022, a highly anticipated industry event, will kick off in November

The rail transit industry is a cornerstone of national development and a key pillar in building a strong transportation nation. As of May 2022, 51 cities across 31 provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities, and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps have launched and operated 275 urban rail transit lines, covering a total operational length of 8,917 kilometers. With the strategic push of the “Transportation Power” initiative and the 14th Five-Year Plan, alongside favorable central government policies, China’s urban rail transit sector is poised for significant growth over the next decade.

As the flagship exhibition for the Asian and international rail transit industry, the International Rail Transit Exhibition plays a vital role in opening markets and facilitating trade under China’s dual circulation strategy. While many professional exhibitions in China have been postponed or shifted online due to the pandemic, the ARTS International Rail Transit Exhibition is steadfastly working to resume in-person events. Scheduled for November 23-25 at Nanjing Station, the exhibition aims to revitalize the rail transit market, sustain industry vitality, and inspire confidence for industrial transformation and upgrading. It will serve as a rallying point for the rapid recovery of the rail transit sector in the post-pandemic era and the new infrastructure development phase.

Overcoming Challenges Amidst the Pandemic: Building Strength for a Stronger Future

China’s market remains a powerful driver for global enterprises. The confidence of longstanding partners remains strong, and new participants continue to join. Established exhibitors such as CRRC, China Academy of Electrical Sciences, Shentong Group, Chongqing Rail Transit Group, and China Railway Engineering Design Consulting Group have all confirmed their participation. New entrants from both domestic and international markets, including South Korea’s LG Group, Qingdao Aokete Machinery Equipment Co., Ltd., and Fubai New Materials (Zhejiang) Co., Ltd., will also attend. Key representatives from major urban subway companies, industry associations, and organizations from cities like Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou will join the exhibition, culminating in a grand finale.

The event’s theme, “Smart Rail for Long Range Development,” emphasizes comprehensive technological innovation and cross-sector integration. The exhibition aims to create a multidimensional development platform for the rail transit industry, building on past successes while gathering more industry resources. It will showcase the latest products, cutting-edge technologies, and innovative solutions in railway and urban rail transit, offering a coordinated and valuable annual event for both exhibitors and visitors.

Having been held for 16 consecutive sessions, the International Rail Transit Exhibition continues to capture the pulse of the industry, guiding its development and expanding its domestic and international influence. This year’s event features a fresh layout at the new Nanjing International Expo Center, with an expected exhibition area approaching 40,000 square meters. Eight major sections—including complete vehicles and components, rail security technologies, smart rail transit communication systems, and rail car interiors—will host over 300 domestic and international brands. Nearly a thousand vehicle models, component manufacturers, and exhibitors will participate, offering a comprehensive showcase of product and brand strength. The exhibition is designed to meet the needs of professionals for observation, networking, and business opportunities, promising an engaging and rewarding experience.

Alongside the exhibition, several international and professional summit forums will be held, including the 2022 China Rail Transit Development Summit Forum, Underground Engineering and Tunnel Technology Application Seminar, Regional Intercity and Urban (Suburban) Railway Planning and Development Forum, Rail Transit Smart Operation and Maintenance Forum, and Tunnel Operation Management and Disaster Prevention and Reduction Technology Forum. These forums aim to establish and maintain a value-sharing platform for sustainable business cooperation across enterprises. The organizing committee will invite rail transit manufacturers, subway operators, industry stakeholders, government leaders, entrepreneurs, research institutions, and experts from various fields to evaluate global rail transit development trends, focus on pressing industry topics, explore China’s rail transit dynamics, and foster new cooperation and innovation.

Extensive Media Coverage and Brand Communication

This year’s International Rail Transit Exhibition will attract hundreds of domestic and international media outlets, including CCTV, China.com, People’s Daily Online, Xinhua News Agency, China Securities Journal, Shanghai Securities News, First Financial Daily, Sina, Sohu, and others, providing comprehensive coverage. Additionally, a “Smart Rail Transit” live broadcast will be launched in collaboration with Urban Transport Network and the official exhibition website. The exhibition will also feature offline TAP business matching activities designed to connect the entire industry chain. Based on professional visitors’ needs, the platform will utilize the rail exhibition supplier database to customize and match exhibitors, facilitating in-depth supply-demand communication and creating a continuous business exchange platform. This further enhances the International Rail Transit Exhibition’s role as an authoritative, high-end interactive industry platform, supporting the construction of smart city rail transit systems and transportation powerhouses. It also provides companies with an excellent opportunity to showcase their offerings and engage with peers.

Challenges inspire courage and perseverance, and hard work leads to success. We sincerely thank all exhibitors and visitors for their ongoing support and partnership over the years. We eagerly await your presence at the Nanjing International Expo Center from November 23 to 25 to explore industry development directions, discover new opportunities, and jointly promote the rail transit industry’s green, digital, and intelligent transformation. Together, we will create another world-leading international event in the rail transit sector!
