The Shimao Shenzhen Hong Kong International Center is situated in the eastern CBD of Longgang, Shenzhen. This exhibition center, completed earlier, faces Longgang Dayun Green Park on the west side and the future super high-rise main tower on the east side—potentially the tallest building in China. To the north, it borders a central green space, while the west side harmonizes with the surrounding landscape mountain, offering unique BIM-designed urban and landscape resources. The center serves multiple functions including planning displays, commercial marketing, art exhibitions, and cultural events, injecting fresh vitality into the urban area and becoming the public’s first impression of the Shenzhen Hong Kong International Center.

The architectural design merges modern technology with traditional culture, centered around the concepts of the “Spiral Scroll” and “Layered Gardens.” The spiraling and ascending form is enhanced by LED transparent screens, creating a delicate, rice paper-like canvas that interprets the long scroll of Chinese landscape painting. Suspended volumes at various levels and orientations form a multidimensional three-dimensional garden, offering scenic views from all angles. Together, these elements create an exhibition gallery rich in cultural heritage.

The art gallery appears to float above a reflective water surface, where light and shadow interact beautifully. The structure’s dynamic form is suspended layer by layer, shifting directions to complement the surrounding environment. The ‘Spiral Scroll’ wraps and ascends gracefully, creating an atmosphere that is hazy and tranquil, or grand and majestic, depending on the interplay of light and shadow throughout the day.

At the heart of the building lies the “Crystal Exhibition Hall,” a warm and transparent core space that embodies an open and artistic public ambiance. Surrounding it, the landscape terraces follow the building’s rotation, forming a “three-dimensional garden” that offers an elevated garden experience, seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor atmospheres.

The ‘Spiral Scroll’ features a double-layer curtain wall system. The inner performance curtain wall closely aligns with the building’s functional layout, while the outer form curtain wall spirals upward with suspended volumes. The cavity between them houses an innovative LED transparent screen multimedia system.

By day, the glazed glass reflects sunlight with a pure, elegant quality reminiscent of delicate rice paper—calm and refined. At dusk, the afterglow of the setting sun illuminates the “painting scroll,” blending the building with the sky. As night falls, the dynamic illuminated landscape wraps the structure in grandeur and energy. Later, gentle floodlighting creates a peaceful, natural ambiance, highlighting the building’s harmony with its environment.
