The Guigang Sports Center project, part of Guigang City’s three-year target action plan focused on major livelihood construction projects, has now entered its final sprint phase and is expected to be completed within the year. Featuring a unique design of “two venues within one,” the center and its supporting facilities are designed to meet the diverse needs of the community.
On June 9th, technical workers at the Guigang Sports Center construction site began work on the main stadium’s dry-hanging process. Wei Keyuan, leader of the dry-hanging team, explained that every stage of the project adheres to strict quality standards. To ensure this, the project team established a model demonstration area on site, providing model guidance through physical samples, pictures, and written materials. Additionally, a comparison column displaying samples alongside actual structures was set up to standardize on-site quality inspections.
The project department also encourages collaborative problem-solving by holding centralized discussions on key and challenging issues, allowing for optimization plans that maintain and improve project quality.

The main construction of the venue’s observation deck has been completed
Construction of the Guigang Sports Center began in April 2012, with a total estimated investment of 730 million yuan. The project includes multiple ancillary facilities such as the main sports stadium, gymnasium, swimming pool, water fitness center, and observation platform. It is a collaborative effort between Guangxi Construction Engineering Group and its subsidiaries—Company 1, Company 2, and Company 5—alongside the Guigang Municipal Government, under a BT (Build-Transfer) agreement.
Once completed, the center will not only be capable of hosting major national individual and comprehensive sports events in Guangxi but will also support functions like national fitness programs, leisure activities, entertainment, training, and education.
Huang Mei, Acting Chief Engineer of Guangxi Construction Engineering Group, shared that the project’s cumulative experience is now translating into technological achievements. Notably, the quality control techniques for on-site plug welding of ultra-thick steel plates in the main stadium have achieved QC certification results.
Furthermore, the use of BIM (Building Information Modeling) technology combined with computer 3D modeling software to assist steel structure construction has received district-level certification for construction methods. Similarly, the installation and construction methods for span cantilever steel structures have earned district-level certification, with applications underway for national-level certification for large-span cantilever steel structure methods.
