Tips for Using the Locking Function in Pipeline Integration in Revit
When integrating pipelines, air ducts are often quite large. Due to limited space, fittings are usually not used to connect vertical ducts to horizontal branches; instead, they are directly plugged together. While this method is simple and effective, it can cause misalignment or detachment between vertical and horizontal ducts when adjustments are made later. Proper use of the locking function can effectively prevent these issues.
1. Use the Align command to align the top of the horizontal duct with the top of the vertical duct, as illustrated below.
2. After alignment, a small lock icon appears on the dashed alignment line. Clicking this lock will secure the two duct tops together, changing the lock state from unlocked to locked, as shown in the image.
3. When adjusting the height of the duct during later pipeline integration, the height of the riser will adjust accordingly without causing misalignment.

4. By locking one side of the duct similarly, you can move it horizontally without worrying about misalignment, as demonstrated below.
