How to Drill Holes Simultaneously on Two Adjacent Walls of Different Materials in Revit
When working with Revit, you may encounter a situation where two adjacent walls (with doors and windows hidden) require openings. For example, if you insert door and window openings on one wall, you might want the adjacent wall to automatically reflect these openings as well. This approach is particularly useful when calculating specialized project quantities. The steps to achieve this are as follows:
1. Go to the Modify tab, then to the Geometric Shapes panel, and select the Connecting Geometric Shapes button. Use this tool to geometrically connect the two walls, as illustrated in the figure.
2. Switch to the 3D view. You will notice that the inserted doors and windows have automatically created corresponding openings on both walls, as shown in the image.
Explanation: In modeling, walls often consist of multiple layers drawn in the same location, or building walls might be adjacent to structural walls. When inserting door and window openings, it is preferable to have openings reflected in both walls simultaneously. By following the method above, this issue is effectively resolved, making modeling more efficient and convenient.
