Revit Architecture Family Drawing Tutorial: Creating a Sliding Window Family

1. Begin by selecting the appropriate template file.

2. Adjust the opening size to 1500mm by 2000mm.

3. Draw the external window frame with a cross-section of 120mm by 60mm, and align it accurately on the floor plan.

After outlining the frame, complete the stretch operation and switch to the reference elevation view to define the start and end points of the stretch.

4. Next, create the internal window frame with a cross-section measuring 30mm by 30mm.

Draw the internal frame outlines: one on the left, one on the right, one at the front, and one at the back.

5. Align the internal window frames within the plan view.

When setting the start and end points for stretching, you can either drag them manually or enter precise numerical values for accuracy.

6. Draw the glass panel.

Sketch the outline for the glass stretch, define the start and end points using the reference elevation floor plan, and finally assign its subcategory to “glass”.
