How to Modify Railings and Handrails in Revit: Rectangular Railing Parameters
In the Revit software template, the rectangular railing is preset with dimensions of 25mm by 20mm. But what if you need a 50mm rectangular railing? Here’s how to adjust it:
1. In the Project Browser of Revit, navigate to the Family category, locate the railing family, and open it. Select the “Square railing” option, then copy the system type and rename it to “50mm”.
2. Double-click the copied type labeled “50mm”. The system will automatically open the Type Properties dialog. Change the width parameter value to “50” and confirm your changes.
3. Select the railing in your project, then click Edit Type to open the type properties. Click on the Railing Position option to edit the railing placement.
4. In the Edit Railing Position window, select the standard railing profile. Under the railing family options, find and select the 50mm rectangular profile, then confirm your selection.
5. Additionally, you can modify other railing shapes such as the flat steel pole or circular profiles by adjusting their shape parameters accordingly.
