How to Draw Circular Structural Floor Slabs in Revit
When using Revit Structure software, you may encounter difficulties when trying to draw a circular structural floor slab. The system will prevent you from completing the creation, and a dialog box will appear in the bottom right corner of the screen. Why does this happen?
The issue arises because Revit requires a span direction to be assigned to the floor slab. However, the software only allows span directions to be added along straight lines, which means circular or curved slabs cannot be completed in the usual way.
Fortunately, the solution is quite simple. While drawing the floor outline, go to the “Properties” section in the floor’s property bar. Under Structure, uncheck the option on the right side that controls the span direction. After finishing the floor slab, you can re-enable this option. This method allows you to successfully draw circular floor slabs.
This approach can also be used for other irregular structural floor slabs that do not have straight edges.
