How to Find All Drawings and Models Containing a Selected Object in Navisworks

Navisworks searches across all drawings and models containing the selected object. Within the Project Browser panel, you can search for objects across all prepared drawings and models.

Exporting to Autodesk Navisworks
You can integrate a 3D model with 2D drawings exported from the same design application to create a multi-page file. For instance, a model exported from Autodesk Revit as NWC, DWF, or DWFx file formats can be combined with any 2D drawing from the same Revit project exported as a DWF or DWFx file. This integration enables you to select components in a 3D environment and then locate and view the same components in 2D views such as plans or sections. Similarly, you can select an element in a 2D drawing and search for it within the 3D model and other 2D drawings. This feature is especially useful for quickly identifying collision items in floor plans related to different systems.

Preparing drawings and models for searching
When opening a multi-page file, not all drawings or models may be ready for use in Autodesk Navisworks. The Project Browser window will display a Prepare icon indicating which drawings or models require preparation. You can prepare one or more drawings or models via the context menu in the Project Browser, or choose to prepare all drawings and models directly within the window. Navisworks only performs searches on prepared drawings and models, so any files not yet prepared will be excluded from search results.
