How to Calculate Pipeline Length in Revit
At construction sites, it is essential to accurately measure the quantity of mechanical and electrical pipelines. Typically, this measurement is based on the design institute’s drawings. However, after pipeline integration in Revit software, the drawings may change. Therefore, performing quantity calculations directly within Revit is often more reliable. Here, quantity refers specifically to the pipeline length. The steps to do this are as follows:
Step 1: Open the integrated pipeline model in the plan view. Make sure to hide any unrelated content to keep the view clear, as shown in the image below:
Step 2: Select the command line to modify the measurement settings under the panel.
Step 3: In the attribute column above, check the chain icon. This enables multiple pipeline measurements and displays the total length in millimeters. Next, move your mouse over a section of the pipeline and click to start measuring. Continue by moving the mouse to the pipeline’s end and click again. Repeat this process for each pipeline section by clicking on both ends continuously.
Step 4: As illustrated above, measure each pipeline section using this method. The total length of all measured sections will be displayed, along with the length of each individual section, directly in the plan view.
This approach allows you to calculate the pipeline length efficiently. Besides this method, pipeline quantity can also be calculated using detailed tables in Revit.
