Effective Use of Revit Plant Family Template Features — Scaling the Entire Model Proportionally
1. Start by loading any family into your project.
If the size of the loaded family does not meet your requirements, you will need to scale it proportionally. However, this cannot be achieved simply by adjusting parameters or using the scaling tools. Instead, you can utilize plant family templates to perform proportional scaling.
As illustrated, first create two metric plant family templates, named Plant Family 1 and Plant Family 2.
2. Load Plant Family 1 and modify its identification data to “unclassified.”
3. Load Plant Family 2, aligning its center point, which will serve as the center of scaling transformations.
4. After reloading these families into your project, you can scale them proportionally. For example, comparing two versions of a house, scaling from an initial size of 6000 to 3000 reduces the scale by half.
The scaling ratio is calculated as (current size) / (original size).
