How to Precisely Adjust Model Fill Pattern Lines in Revit

How to Accurately Move Model Fill Pattern Lines in Revit

In Revit, a more precise way to move model fill pattern lines is through texture alignment. This method aligns the fill pattern lines with the edges of the construction elements, ensuring better accuracy. The process is straightforward and can be done by editing the construction type and using the texture alignment command.

The result looks like this:

However, sometimes after applying the above method, the alignment between the model fill pattern lines and the construction edges in the view may still not be perfect or visually pleasing.

In such cases, using a second method becomes necessary.

The following steps explain this process in detail:

The goal of moving model fill pattern lines is to adjust patterns like “Flattening” or “Brick” (represented by the fill pattern lines) so that they align precisely with wall edges or other surface boundaries.

  1. Select the elements containing model fill patterns within the drawing area.
  2. Press the Tab key to highlight the fill pattern line’s shape control handles.
  3. Click to select the desired shape control handle.
  4. Drag the shape control handle or use the “Move” tool to adjust the fill pattern lines. Alternatively, you can use keyboard arrow keys for finer control.
