How to Quickly Create Duct Layouts in Revit
When working in Revit to create duct layouts, users typically use the duct drawing tool to connect each air outlet to the main duct individually, then connect to the HVAC equipment. However, relying solely on the duct drawing tool can make the process complicated and time-consuming. To simplify this task, you can create duct systems and generate layouts more efficiently.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to streamline duct layout creation:
1. Select the air outlet where you want to create the duct, then go to the Modify | Duct End tab and click Create a duct system. In the Create a duct system command, click Confirm to complete the creation of the air supply system.
2. Navigate to the Modify | Duct System tab and click the Generate Layout command.
3. In the Generate Layout tab, place the benchmark by selecting a point in the drawing area as the endpoint of the main air duct.
4. Click Solution, choose the closest solution from the options bar, then click Set…. In the Duct Conversion Settings, select the duct type and offset (elevation) for both the main and branch ducts according to your requirements.
5. Click Edit Layout to adjust the blue main duct path as needed. Then, modify the green branch duct path to align closely with your desired layout style.
6. Finally, in the Generate Layout tab, click Complete Layout to finish. This process will provide you with a duct layout that meets your specifications.
