How Easy Is It to Get a Job After BIM Training and What Does a BIM Engineer Earn?

With the rapid advancement of BIM technology in China and the upcoming implementation of BIM standards next year, more builders are recognizing the importance of BIM training and education. Everyone wants to gain a competitive edge for their future career development. Today, I want to address two questions that are on everyone’s mind: Is it easy to find a job after BIM training? What is the salary for a BIM engineer?

Is it easy to find a job after BIM training? This question should be considered from two perspectives:

Firstly, personal learning attitude.

My viewpoint focuses more on individuals rather than training institutions. I’ve observed that many students who have completed BIM courses or training still lack a solid understanding of BIM concepts and related software skills. This is often due to their attitude toward learning. Some students don’t recognize the growing importance of BIM and attend courses perfunctorily—sometimes only because their company reimburses the cost. For many, it feels like a vacation rather than serious study. This improper attitude leads to ineffective learning and does not help much with future employment opportunities.

Secondly, the quality of the training institution.

The quality of instruction strongly influences students’ job prospects after completing their training. For those looking to learn BIM, improve their skills, or build a foundation for the future, it’s crucial to choose the right training institution and learning method carefully. If you feel uncertain, you might want to check out the article I wrote earlier: How to choose a BIM training institution. While it may not cover everything, it can certainly help guide your decision.

Now, regarding the salary of a BIM engineer, I have discussed this topic several times before. You can find a detailed breakdown of the various experience levels and corresponding salaries in my article What is the remuneration for BIM engineers, so I won’t repeat it here. In short, a BIM engineer’s salary depends largely on personal value and negotiation skills. These, in turn, are built on a solid foundation of accumulated knowledge and experience—not something achieved overnight.

My advice to everyone is to stay grounded and patient. To quote a line from the movie Let the Bullets Fly: take one step at a time, drink one sip at a time. Trying to make huge leaps too quickly can often cause trouble.

Alright, that’s all for today’s discussion on Is it easy to find a job after BIM training? What is the salary for a BIM engineer? I hope this article has been helpful to you!
