How to Add Pipe Break Symbols in Revit
When working with Revit modeling, pipes are typically drawn continuously throughout the design process. However, there are situations—such as when segmenting drawings—where adding pipe break symbols becomes necessary.
Follow these steps to create and apply pipe break symbols:
1. Start by creating a new family file. Choose the template “Metric Standard Markings.rft”, as illustrated below.
2. Go to the Modify tab and select Family Category and Parameters. Set the family category to “Pipeline Marking” and enable “Rotate with component”, as shown in the image.
3. Next, under the Create tab, use the Straight Line command and select the arc tool to draw the pipe break symbol. Position it near the intersection of two reference planes, as depicted.
4. Save the family file and then Load into Project. In the Annotate tab, click Tag by Category. Select the pipe where you want to add the break symbol, and place the pipeline marker you created earlier, as demonstrated.
