Tips for Using Ctrl and Shift Keys in Revit
1. In Revit, select a graphic element in the drawing area. Slightly move the mouse until the cursor changes to a cross icon indicating movement. Then, hold down the Ctrl key and the left mouse button while moving the mouse. This action will create a copy of the selected graphic element.
2. To move a selected graphic element strictly vertically or horizontally, hold down the Shift key and the left mouse button while moving the mouse.
3. For copying a graphic element vertically or horizontally, hold down both the Shift and Ctrl keys along with the left mouse button while moving the mouse.
When using commands like Copy, Move, Rotate, Mirror, or Offset in Revit, the option bar will show choices such as Constraint, Copy, or Multiple. Clicking these options with the mouse after activating the command can be somewhat inconvenient.
By combining the Ctrl and Shift keys on the keyboard, you can bypass the need to manually select these options. This not only helps avoid deleting original elements after offset and mirror operations but also significantly improves drawing efficiency.
