A Guide to Creating Tree Shapes in Revit

How to Generate Tree Shapes in Revit

1. In Revit, start by creating a new metric mass. Set the elevation as the work plane, then place three reference points and evenly divide the points below.

2. Next, copy two reference planes and place three reference points on each.

3. Use spline curves to connect the points on each plane separately, as illustrated in the figure.

4. Select the three spline curves and generate shapes to segment the surface, as shown in the diagram.

5. Select the segmented surface to reveal the nodes.

6. Create a new adaptive metric family. Place 11 points and adapt them accordingly, as demonstrated in the figure.

7. Set the horizontal plane of point 1 as the work plane. Then, connect the points using spline curves below the reference line. There should be a total of five curves, as depicted in the figure.

8. Position points along the lines and set their vertical orientation to the work plane, forming a layout shape as shown.

9. Finally, load the adaptive family into the metric mass and place it according to the reference points, as illustrated in the figure.
