By integrating natural elements such as mountains, rivers, lakes, and seas into urban design, we can create a gateway to nature for city residents.
Project Overview
Fengshun County, located in Meizhou, Guangdong Province, boasts a rich historical and regional culture alongside valuable natural landscapes. As Fengshun embraces a new era, there is a pressing need to replace and upgrade outdated urban facilities with comprehensive cultural infrastructure that meets the demands of modern development.

Location of the Venue
By incorporating natural features such as mountains, rivers, lakes, and seas into the city’s design, the project opens a direct connection to nature for the community.

The Fengshun Jianzhen Cultural and Sports Center is situated in the heart of Fengshun County. It embraces the local cultural heritage and integrates landscape imagery to create an ecological space where humans and nature coexist harmoniously. The center aims to establish a large-scale, comprehensive development project combining cultural, administrative, and sports facilities within the city’s core.

△ Functional zoning
The building’s form draws inspiration from the earth’s landscape. A white sports hall, resembling smooth pebbles, rests quietly on a “hillside.” Beneath this “hillside,” you will find museums, libraries, cultural centers, and planning exhibition halls, while public spaces and green landscapes sit above.

The design connects the mountain, buildings, and landscape, maximizing rooftop openness to the public. Multi-level functions intertwine to link green spaces, courtyards, and public squares, creating vibrant communal areas. This integration enriches and diversifies the environment, resulting in a three-dimensional urban park.

△ Roof sharing platform
The sloped green roofs gradually ascend, blending the buildings seamlessly into the surrounding landscape to form an artificial hill. Visitors can walk or jog along the trails, relax on the lawns, and enjoy panoramic views of the distant mountains and the gently flowing Rongjiang North River.

△ Artificial hills
Buildings along the river feature transparent French windows facing the Rongjiang North River.
French windows and skylights are installed beneath the sloped green roofs, allowing natural light to flood both the interior and exterior spaces. Visitors can ascend the “hill” by following the “mountain” path, immersing themselves in nature.
