João Pessoa is a tropical coastal city characterized by a flat and regular urban layout stretching along expansive tourist beaches. The Ba’ra Hotel features 126 rooms of various sizes—22, 32, 52, and 72 square meters—arranged in a block facing the beach and accessible via Cabo Blanco Avenue. This avenue serves as a vehicular thoroughfare parallel to the beach, includes a bicycle lane, and functions as a lively space for pedestrians, athletes, and local festivals.

Considering the local climate and urban conditions, along with municipal regulations restricting beachfront buildings to five stories, we designed the hotel with a “U-shaped” layout. This creates a semi-public central courtyard that serves as a vibrant space for hotel activities connected to both city life and the beach.
Guests enter the hotel by passing through metal pergolas and sky gardens, then descend naturally lit stairs to the lobby and basement-level restaurant. The rooms are symmetrically arranged along the “U” shape, with some facing the ocean and others overlooking the central courtyard.

To maximize sea views, we incorporated staggered diagonal cantilevers for each room. On the top floor, a central metal pergola bridge connects two terraces featuring restaurants and swimming pools. From these elevated spaces, visitors can enjoy views of the dynamic interaction between the city and the ocean below.
Each room is equipped with practical windows designed to control sunlight and maintain privacy through cross ventilation and adjustable metal blinds.
