Designed by Adjaye Associates, the Abrahamic Family House is situated in the cultural district of Saadiyat, Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. Since its completion, it has become a prominent landmark in the city. This unique complex comprises three independent places of worship—an Islamic mosque, a Christian church, and a Jewish synagogue—alongside shared spaces for gatherings and dialogue.
The project was announced in 2019, with the final design selected through an international competition. This multi-faith integrated complex officially opened to worshippers on February 16, 2023. From March 1, 2023, tourists are also welcome to visit and participate in guided tours.

The House of Abraham’s Teachings is envisioned as a center for learning and dialogue. Visitors are warmly invited to join religious services, guided tours, and celebrations, offering a chance to explore the journey of faith. The complex houses three places of worship: the Eminence Ahmed El Tayeb Mosque, His Holiness Francis Church, and Moses Ben Maimon Synagogue.

The daily guided tours cover the entire 6,500-square-meter complex. Tour guides highlight the architect’s thoughtful designs tailored to the unique practices and traditions of each faith. Each ‘House of Faith’ is a cube measuring 30 meters on each side, ensuring equal volume but distinct architectural expressions. At the center lies the main forum, a single-story block encircled by the three houses of worship.

“I believe architecture should embody the world we aspire to live in—a world defined by acceptance, openness, and continuous progress. As an architect, I aim to create buildings that transcend social divisions and enrich human life. Through these three structures, we celebrate three distinct religions, inviting people of diverse beliefs and backgrounds to engage in the mission of fostering peaceful coexistence for generations to come.” — Sir David Adjaye OM OBE RA

The Abrahamic House complex is listed among ArchDaily’s most anticipated buildings of 2023. Other notable projects include Studio Gang’s Guilder Center at the New York Museum of Natural History, OMA’s AKG Art Museum in Buffalo, and Snøhetta Denmark’s new maritime center, which has also opened this year.
