The Lenovo Wuhan R&D Base project is a large-scale complex developed by China Construction Third Engineering Bureau. Located in the Donghu Technology Development Zone of Wuhan City, Hubei Province, it is adjacent to the Optics Valley Software Park. The establishment of Lenovo Group’s Wuhan R&D base is expected to bring new vitality to the entire development zone.

Multi-view visualization and simulation ensure smooth and orderly construction
To address the challenge of unclear construction disclosure, this project leverages BIM’s intuitive capabilities to perform 4D dynamic construction simulations throughout the building process. The construction schedule is divided into milestone nodes, with detailed layer-by-layer checks for each discipline and subcontractor. Additionally, cross-operations between various work areas are simulated to guarantee the construction progresses smoothly and in an orderly manner.

Automatic division of work areas for clear project management and control
By integrating engineering workflows and based on the actual division of work areas, the project uses the Guanglian 5D platform’s automatic picking function to quickly segment work zones. This approach organizes progress, component quantities, bill of materials, and quality and safety issues for each work interface. This refined management dimension enhances construction site oversight and supports project management through detailed work area tracking.

Real-time progress collection enables accurate tracking and verification

Managing construction progress in this project involves multiple influencing factors, making it a complex and systematic task. Traditional methods are insufficient for its progress management needs. Using the BIM5D mobile app, real-time on-site progress photos are collected. The Guanglian Da BIM5D software’s multi-viewport feature visually compares planned progress, actual progress, and any deviations, providing clear verification of project status.

On-site issue recording with clear responsibility assignment

To address delayed responses to quality and safety issues and unclear accountability during construction, on-site managers use mobile devices to record problems immediately. Issues are directly assigned to responsible parties through photos and task delegation. Managers can review reported issues online and hold regular meetings to track task completion. The BIM5D PC platform organizes all issues and maps them within the model for easy reference later.

Material demand planning and consumption trend analysis
Cost management is a vital aspect of this project, with material control playing a key role. Using BIM5D software, the project simulates and calculates material requirements on a quarterly, monthly, and weekly basis. This process automatically generates procurement plans, reduces supply risks, and improves material cutting accuracy.
