Resembling a metal container perched atop a simple concrete wall, this house forms two distinct relationships with its surroundings. The upper level can be completely sealed to block sunlight, providing privacy and sound insulation for a secluded space. Alternatively, the facade can be opened at specific nodes to allow light and ventilation.

In contrast, the ground floor seamlessly opens into the garden. Large glass panels blur the line between indoor and outdoor living, while carefully selected furniture creates a harmonious dialogue between the architecture and Brazilian-style artworks. Some pieces, including the Brasília coffee table, dining set, box edge table, and movable bench, were designed by the architect.

Beneath the open first floor lies a full basement that preserves views of the surrounding gardens. This modern urban residence was designed for a young couple and their two daughters, making functionality a key priority.

The materials used throughout the home are honest and unpretentious. Steel, wood, and concrete showcase their natural textures and patinas, emphasizing the popularity of this raw, authentic aesthetic.

From the street, the Bento residence appears reserved and discreet. The folding metal panels and doors on the upper level create a visual barrier, while upon entering, visitors can immediately sense the integration of the lower level with the garden—a hidden oasis nestled within the urban fabric of São Paulo.
