Revit, short for “Reviseistantly,” is a suite of software developed by Autodesk in the United States specifically for Building Information Modeling (BIM). The Autodesk Revit family includes three primary products: Revit Architecture, Revit Structure, and Revit MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing).
Revit Architecture focuses on the planning and design of both the exterior and interior of buildings, including equipment and facilities. It allows users to visualize building components from any angle, providing a comprehensive view of the environment inside and outside the building.
Revit Structure is dedicated to structural design. It enables users to create 3D models of structural elements such as steel bars and beams. These structural objects can then interact with analysis software for volume calculations and help generate material usage reports for budgeting purposes.
Revit MEP serves as a simulation platform for electromechanical systems. It assists engineers in designing and analyzing power systems. The digital models created within Revit MEP can be tested on its simulation platform, which offers features like automatic pipeline configuration, power load calculations, and thermal energy analysis for HVAC systems.

Revit provides initial templates to help users start new projects efficiently. These templates include view models, preloaded families, and predefined settings. Setting up the project template is essential before beginning modeling work, as it streamlines the design process.
Design teams typically prepare various specialized templates in advance, tailored to their professional needs. When creating a new project, it is necessary to configure elements such as the project component family library, legend annotation styles, and views. Display views require definitions of display styles, including line types, colors, fill styles, and plot settings.
