BIM Q&A | How to Set Terrain Elevation for Guanglian BIM Site Layout?
I’m a bit confused about the term “ground beam layer”—is it different from the foundation layer? To clarify, you should first establish the elevation of the first floor and then input the bottom elevation value for that floor (commonly set to 0, 0.03, or 0.05).
Next, consider the general bottom elevation of your main structural components (such as solid structures). Based on the number you set for the first floor’s bottom elevation, subtract the calculated value and enter it as the floor height for the base level. The upper floors’ elevations can then be automatically derived according to their respective floor heights.
Finally, the software will input bottom elevations as values like -0.15, 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, etc., matching the floor heights listed in your schedule. Regarding the upper floors, avoid confusion: foundation floors are either calculated or manually set by the user. Simply input the topmost floor layer into the software, and any floors above it can be drawn on top accordingly. If your design includes a roof structure, you can add an extra layer to accommodate it.
