BIM Q&A: China's BIM Talent Shortage Expected to Reach 600,000 by 2020

BIM Q&A | China is expected to face a shortage of 600,000 BIM technology professionals by 2020.

Currently, design institutes and construction companies widely use BIM technology in project bidding and management. However, the application of BIM still lacks depth and systematic integration. There is a significant demand for skilled BIM professionals, particularly in BIM management roles.

Positions such as BIM coordinators, BIM project managers, and enterprise IT managers require practitioners to rapidly and thoroughly master BIM technology. By the end of 2020, Class A survey and design firms, along with special-grade and first-class building construction enterprises, are expected to proficiently integrate BIM with enterprise management systems and other information technologies.

Moreover, it is projected that by the end of 2020, 90% of newly approved projects will incorporate BIM technology throughout the survey, design, construction, operation, and maintenance phases.
